WM. H. ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT I 10CFR50.55(e), ITEM M-65, SEISMIC CLEARANCE DEFICIENCIES, DOCKET NO. 50-358, CONSTRUC-TION PERMIT NO. CPPR-88, W.O. #57300 JOB E-5590, FIL,NO. NRC-8, M-65 Centlemen:
This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition, initially reported to the Commission on October 29, 1982 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
Task VI of the Zimmer Quality Confirmation Program identi-fled on Nonconformance Report (NR) #Q-QAD-82-4218E that the in-spection procedure for pipe support installation, MIP-13, does not contain seismic clearance criteria between pipe supports and cable trays, conduits and their associated supports as required by S&L Design Specifications H-2256 and H-2173.
In addition, it had been determined through project meetings that S&L would no longer compute, on a case by case basis, seismic deflection for conduit supported by vertical hangers greater than 60 inches in length and horizontal hangers greater than 50 inches and will generate specific seismic separation criteria for the above mentioned instances.
S&L is currently evaluating and clarifying the seismic separation criteria in H-2256 and H-2173.
