Dear Mr. Schwencer:
We have completed our review of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
Related to the Operation of Perry Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2.
This nuclear power plant is located on the shore of Lake Erie in Lake County, approxi-mately seven miles northeast of Painesville, Ohio. Both reactors will use boil-ing water reactors to produce 1250 megawatts of electricity each.
Our comments on the draft EIS, for the issuance of the operating license, of May 7,1982 indicated that the operator of the power plant, Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, would have to meet effluent limits for its water dis-charges. Our comments also noted that these limits would be finalized in March of 1983. The response in the final EIS acknowledges the applicant's awareness of these effluent limits and their intent to comply with them. This response adequately addresses our concern.
We do not anticipate any additional adverse environmental impacts occuring with-in our field of expertise. A notice of the availability of our comments will be published in the Federal Register. We appreciate the opportunity to review 886-6687 (FTS) questions regarding our comments, this final EIS.
If you or your staff have any or 312/886-6687 (Commercial).
please contact Mr. Bill Franz at Sincerely yours,
&c n
