Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Operating License No. NPF-12 Special Report per Technical Specification 6.9.2
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This Special Report is being submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.2 as a result of entry into the Action Statement of Technical Specification 3.7.10, " Fire Rated Assemblies".
On March 17, 1983, Virgil C.. Summer Nuclear Station began a plant outage to perform the required D-3 Steam Generator modifications.
During this time a number of fire rated assemblies have been or will be made inoperable so as to accomplish various plant modifications associated'with this. outage.
Several of the inoperable fire barriers have been or will be ~ out of service for longer than the seven (7) days specified in Technical Specification 3.7.10, Action Statement "A".
The applicable portions of Technical Specification 3.7.10, Action Statement "A",
are being implemented to provide fire watches fo r areas affected.
Within ten (10) days following escallation out of Mode 5, a followup report will be submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission outlining the actions taken during the outage in terms of sealing the affected fire barriers and providing for fire protection while these were out of service.
