Washington,DC 20555 A11ENTION: Docketing and Service Branch Comments on

" Revision of Fee Schedules; 100 Percent Fee Recovery, FY 1994" (59 Federal Recister 24065 of May 10.1994)

Dear Mr. Chilk:

Southern Nuclear Operating Company (Southern Nuclear) has reviewed the proposed mle, " Revision of Fee Schedules,100 Percent Fee Recovery, FY 1994," published in tile Federal Register on May 10,1994. In accordance with the request for comments, Southern Nuclear is in total agreement with the NEI comments which are to be provided to the NRC.

Southern Nuclear continues to believe that it is important for the NRC to controlits internal costs in order for the nuclear industry to be successfulin reducing overall program costs. It is noted that the FY 1994 Part 171 fees are less than the FY 1993 Part 171 fees.

However, further reductions in the power reactor fees are possible, especially in the areas where we are required to unfairly subsidize cost recovery for activities that clearly benefit alllicensees and for activities that are unrelated to the power reactors class.

Should you have any questions, please advise.

Respectfully submitted,

  1. 2/ h Dave Morey DNM/JMG i
