Northem States Power Company 414 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, Minnesota 55401 1927 Telephone (612) 330-5500 June 8, 1994 NRCB 93-02 Supp 1 U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn:

Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Follow-Up Response to NRC Bulletin 93-02 Supplement 1,

" Debris Pluccine of Emercency Core Cooline Suction Strainers" NRC Bulletin 93-02 Supplement 1, dated February 18, 1994, describes staff concerns related to the potential loss of Emergency Core Cooling Systems (ECCS) due to the possibility of suction strainer plugging and requested that licensees implement certain interim actions until the issue is resolved.

Reporting Requirement No. 1 of the bulletin supplement required that all action addressees submit a written report indicating whether or not the addressee intends to comply with the actions requested therein, a description of the planned actions, and the schedule for completing them.

NSP submitted information to satisfy this requirement in a letter to the NRC dated April 19, 1994.

In that letter we committed to comply with the interim actions requested in the bulletin and described the actions already taken and several that remained to be completed to satisfy that commitment.

The remaining actions, which involved procedure changes and operator training, were completed on May 18, 1994.

Reporting Requirement No. 2 of the bulletin supplement requires that all licensees submit, within 30 days of completion of the actions required by the bulletin supplement, a report confirming completion. As noted above all requested actions have been completed and this letter satisfies the second reporting requirement.

This letter contains no new NRC commitments.

Plea e contact Terry Coss, Sr Licensing Engineer, at (612) 295-1449 if you require any additional information concerning this submittal.
