WM. H. ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT 1 10CFR50.55(e) - ITEM M INCOMPLETE HYDRAULIC ANALYSIS AT CRD PIPING DOCKET NO. 50.358, CONSTRUCTION PERMIT NO. CPPR-88, W.O.

57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NRC-8, M-32 Gentlemen:

This letter constitutes a follow-up to our report, QA-2154',

dated December 28,1982, concerning the subject deficiency.

CG&E is continuing its ef forts to resolve Stop Work Order 80-14, and the December 24, 1980 NRC Immediate Action letter for work on the Control Rod Drive System (CRD).

A preliminary analysis by Sargent & Lundy (S&L) has determined that the installed piping geometry will be within analysis tolerances of the present CRD system geometry.

Based on this, CG&E has determined that the installation meets ASME Code stress limitations.

Review of Reactor Controls Incorporated (RCI) documentation and procedures has been completed with all deficiencies identified on Nonconformance Reports (NR) and Document Deficiency Notices (DDN).

Catalytic, Inc. is initiating a field verification of installed hardware, after which the system will be ready for the support modifications prescribed by the hydraulic re-analysis.

A follow-up report will be submitted by June 30, 1983.
