Nuclear Safety Magazine published by the then Atomic Energy Commission, Volume 10, No. 5, for September and Octcber, 1969, is quoted for your information.
" Consumers Power Company has come a cropper, at least temporarily, with respect 'o the site for the l'
proposed two-unit 1325 megawatt electrical TRW station by Babcock & Wilcox.
During the preliminary phases of our review of the Midland plant we have placed prin-cipal emphasis on the evaluation of your sight.
The commission's advisory committee, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, ACRS, has also considered the acceptability of the sight.
In addition, as part of the review, representatives of the ACRS and the regu-latory staff have visited Midland.
As a result of this review, you have been advised that the proposed sight is unacceptable for use with the reactor plant design presently described in your PSAR."
In view of the above historical reference it appears, it would seem, that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has allowed Con-sumers Power Company to put their plant in the wrong locality.
In a locality that is objected to by the ACRS.
