Gentlemen:

In accordance with Mr. E. A. Reeves' December 2,1982 verbal request, Alabama Power Company hereby submits the following information concerning Farley Nuclear P' ant's per;.anent E0F, backup E0F, interim primary E0F and interim backup E0F.

PERMANENT E0F Location The permanent E0F is located in the Farley Nuclear Plant Training Facility which is situated approximately 0.5 miles southwest of the main power block.

Structural Type The permanent E0F is a reinforced concrete structure which is designed to withstand 100 year recurrence frequency winds and floods.

Radiation Protection Factor The E0F was designed for a radiation protection' factor greater than 5.0.

Structure Completion Status This facility's structure has been completed and was occupied in October 1982.

Use of HEPA Filters The E0F ventilation system is composed of three separate systeme 1) the upper level system which is an isolatable variable air volume system with a prefilter and a HEPA filter; 2) the lower level system (E0F) portion is an isolatable constant volume system with HEPA filters; and 3) the RCA system which consists of a draw through air handling unit with HEPA filters.

Backup E0F Location The permanent backup E0F is located in Alabama Power Company's Wiregrass District Office in Headland, Alabama which is approximately 16 miles away from the FNP main power block.

Structural Type The permanent backup E0F has a well designed brick and frame structure.

Conversico Commencement Date Modifications required to utilize this facility as the permanent backup E0F commenced in September 1982.

These modifications consist solely of the installation of additional communications equipment.

This facility-is now in_use as the backup

E0F, Interim Primary E0F Location The interim primary EOF was located in the Alabama Power Company startup-offices which were located _approximately 0.1 mile from the main power block.

Interim Backup EOF Location The interim backup E0F was located in the Alabama Power Company offices in Ashford, Alabama which is located approximately 7.5 miles from the main power block.
