Dear Mr. Congel:
Enclosed is a copy of the final exercise report for the September 15, 1992, joint exercise of the offsite radiological emergency response plans site-specific to the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant.
The State of Minnesota and Dakota and Goodhue Countiess fully participated in the exercise.
The State of Wisconsin partially participated in the exercise and Pierce County in Wisconsin fully participated.
There were no Deficiencies identified during the September 15, 1992, exercise.
There were, however, twenty-seven Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCA) identified during the exercise. The State of Minnesota received seven ARCAS; Dakota County received four; Goodhue County received two; The State of Wisconsin received eight; and Pierce County received six.
Region V staff will work with the States of Minnesota and Wisconsin to correct the ARCAs on or before the next scheduled biennial exercise.
Based on the results of the September 15, 1992, exercise the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness site-specific to the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public j
in the event of a radiological emergency at the site.
Therefore, the Title 44 CFR, Part 350, approval of the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the State of Minnesota and the State of Wisconsin, site-specific to the Prairie i
Island Nuclear Power Plant, granted on September 24, 1985, and May I
16, 1985, respectively, remain in effect.
Any questions concerning the enclosed report may be directed to Mr. Joseph A.
Moreland, Chief, Exercises Division, on (202) 646-4294.
bincerely, j
