Subject:
[External_Sender] Decommissioning of the Indian Point nuclear plants and, most importantly, under safe clean-up procedures Date:
Monday, February 17, 2020 4:18:50 PM
Dear NRC members,
We of Shut Down Indian Pt. NOW!, a local activist group concerned with the safe closrue of the Indian Point plants, are writing in conjunction with Safe Energy Rights Group, Inc.
(SEnRG) and the 20 million people living and working within the 50 mile radius around the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant to request an adjudicatory hearing regarding the appointment of a successor to Entergy, namely Holtec, which has been nominated by several NON-COMMUNITY actors, i.e. politicians and/or corporations, to undertake said decommissioning.
We oppose the appointment of the Holtec firm, which our investigations show has a poor safety record.
Furthermore, any decommissioning should be conducted with the health of thewildlife:
fish, animals and birds, as well as people in mind. NOTE: There is a fault line running through and nearby the Indian Pt. properties which has to be taken into consideration during any decommissioning operation as well.
So, for all of the above reasons, as well as fairness to the affected communities in the area, we oppose Holtec's nomination as stated above.
Sincerely, Paul Corell 476 State Street Brooklyn, New York 11217 (member of Shut Down Indian Point NOW!)
