Mr. J. G. Keppler Regional Administrator RE:
WM. H. ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT 1 1.E. INSPECTION REPORT NO. 81-27, ITEM 2, PIPE LUG ATTACHMENTS, DOCKET No. 50-358, CONSTRUCTION PERMIT NO. CPPR-88 W.O. #57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. NRC-1 Gentlemen:
This letter constitutes a follow-up to our previous response, QA-1929, dated August 24, 1982 regarding Item 2 of the subject Inspection Report.
In the previous response, CG&E stated that all pipe lugs, similar to the one identified by the Commission in the subject report, would be penetrant ex-amined. There are thirty-four (34) such lugs in piping systems, of which twelve are in process. The remaining twenty-two (22) completed welds have been dye penetrant inspected with twenty (20) identified as having indications which have been documented on Nonconformance Reports.
A follow-up report will be submitted by November. 30,'1982 to describe the j
necessary corrective actions required to resolve this concern.
We trust the above will be found acceptable as a follow-up report concerning the subject deficiency.
Very truly yours, l
