Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 3, Reporting of Potential Significant Daficiencies in Design and Construction: Failure of Pinion Gear Shear Keys in Limitorque Model SBO (SD-25)
As required by Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations Part 50, Paragraph 55(e),
Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) reported a potential significant deficiency in the construction of Millstone Unit No. 3 on August 4,1982 (Reference (1)). The potential significant deficiency regarded the failure of pinion gear shear keys in Limitorque model SBO motor operated valves.
At present we are still unable to provide a final report describing the corrective and preventative measures ta be taken because we are waiting for vendor information. We are also una' ale, at this time, to provide a commitment date for the final report. Therefore, to follow this commitment we will provide you with an update by November 15,1982.
