Because significant operational benefits are possible through using an expanded region of the BWR power / flow map, Commonwealth Edison has performed analyses which would support such operation for Quad Cities Units 1 and 2.
The results o f these analyses are contained in the report entitled "NEDO-22192, July 1982, General Electric Boiling Water Reactor Extended Load Line Limit Analysis for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 Cycle 7 and Unit 2 Cycle 6."
This is to inform you that Commonwealth Edison intends to utilize the expanded operating region described in this analysis under the provisions o f 10 CFR 50.59.
NRC review or approval is not required because no Technical Specifications changes are needed and such operation does not constitute an unreviewed safety questions.
