Quad Cities Station Units 1 and 2 Use of Extended Power / Flow Operating Analyses NRC Docket Nos. 50-254 and 50-265

Dear Mr. Eisenhu t :

Because significant operational benefits are possible through using an expanded region of the BWR power / flow map, Commonwealth Edison has performed analyses which would support such operation for Quad Cities Units 1 and 2.

The results o f these analyses are contained in the report entitled "NEDO-22192, July 1982, General Electric Boiling Water Reactor Extended Load Line Limit Analysis for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 Cycle 7 and Unit 2 Cycle 6."

This is to inform you that Commonwealth Edison intends to utilize the expanded operating region described in this analysis under the provisions o f 10 CFR 50.59.

NRC review or approval is not required because no Technical Specifications changes are needed and such operation does not constitute an unreviewed safety questions.

For your information, five (5) copies o f NEDO-22192 are a t tach ed.
