Dear Mr. Check:

CRBRP: TRA11SMISSION LINE ARCHAELOGICAL FIELD SURVEY

Reference:

Letter to M. Ramsey from H. Harper, subject:

Transmission Line, Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, dated September 8, 1982 The reference letter (enclosed) provides concurrence from the Tennessee Historical Commission that an archaelogical and historical field survey is not warranted prior to transmission line tower construction. If during tower construction archaelogical materials are encountered, the Tennessee Historical Commission will be notified for consultation prior to further construction activity at that site.

The CRBRP Environmental Report will be updated to reflect the above.

Dear Mr. Ramsey:

! This letter is to confinn prior telephone conversations between your and my staff concerning the need for field survey of CRBRP transmission lines.

L Since the proposed line parallels an existing Bull Run-Sequoyah 500 KV line

and the section on the Plant site has been examined, the effects will be

! limited to tower footing construction. Therefore a separate archaeological and historical field survey is not warranted. If during tower construction, l

archaeological materials are encountered our office should be informed.

l No further action is required to comply with the National Historic Preservation Act for this phase of the CRBRP project.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely, v' AM ! . vypx.
