Interim Report of the potential 10CFR50.55(e) Item on Deficiency in the Ioad-Carrying Capability of Certain Drywell Structural Steel (#78)
Dear Mr. Keppler:
On August 24, 1982, Detroit Edison's Mr. T.A. Alessi, Director-Project Quality Assurance, telephoned Mr. H. Westcott of NRC Region III, to report on a problem with load-carrying capability of certain drywell structural steel at the Fermi 2 site.

An evaluation by Edison Engineering of the loads carried by structural steel members in the drywell has revealed instances where the present l
loads exceed the design limit. A fix involving the reinforcing of affected members is being considered.
Another report on this item, either interim or final, is scheduled to be sent to you on or before January 20, 1983.
