REPORT ON FACILITY LICENSE NO. R-102 THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO AGN-20lM REACTOR I

j 1 July 1981 - 30 June 1982 The University of New Mexico's AGN-20lM reactor continues to be used I extensively for teaching experiments as a part of our undergraduate and graduate programs. These expreiments include an approach-to-critical, l 1

reactor period and reactivity measurements, importance function measure-I ments, samp12 activation, control rod calibrations, and reactor power 1

, and neutron fluence measurements. Samples for the Departments of Biology and Chemistry have also been irradiated. The reactor is regularly used 4 throughout the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions of the University. All i

i experiments have received prior approval from the Reactor Safeguards .

Advisory Committee and the Radiation Control Committee. No modifications l or experiments involving a change in Technical Specifications have been i performed.

Joseph Smith left the University of New Mexico on July 15, 1982, and his operator license will be allowed to expire.

As required by the " Operator and Senior Operator Requalification Program,"

' retraining sessions were conducted on April 29 and May 3, 1982. A written i t examination is scheduled for November, 1982.
