This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject potentially reportable condition, initially reported to the Commission under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(c).
As stated in our previous report, QA-1799, dated June 3, 1982, during a review of radiographs, deficiencies were noted in both weld and radiograph quality for sacrificial shield welds. Further review of this condition has identified additional sacrificial shield welds which are rejectable by visual inspection of the Code requirements. The Comm-ission was informed of this finding on August 10, 1982.
Corrective action will address radiographic and visual examination i
collectively. A program is being developed by HJK, S&L & CC&E to address and resolve these concerns. A report will be submitted by December 31, 1982.
With regard to our responding within thirty (30) days of the August 10, 1982 supplementary notification date, a request to extend the response date to September 15, 1982 was granted in a September 9, 1982 telephone conversation between Mr. E. R. Schweibinz of the NRC and Mr. F. K. Pfeifer of CG&E.
