Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Chemical Addition Pumps, Duquesne Light Company Letter dated February 27, 1980 Gentlemen:
In the referenced letter, we addressed that the Chemical Addition Pumps installed as part of the Recirculation Spray and Low Head Safety Injection Pumps NPSH modification (l) "would conform to ASME 3 criteria".
Since that time, we have been informed that our supplier (2) is no longer accepting new orders for these pumps but the product line would be available from another vendor (3) without the "N" stamp certification.
Our engineering department has reviewed the design specifications, mat-erials, seismic qualifications, and manufacturing tolerances between the existing pumps and the parts to be procured and found that they are no different with the exception that the "N" stamp will no longer be available on these components although the parts will be manufactured to Mil-Spec requirements.
On this basis, we conclude that the Chemical Addition Pumps would be capable of performing their intended safety function under all accidents requiring their operation.
This letter is only to advise you that we are deviating from the original design specifications under which these pumps were originally procured an described in our February 27, 1980 letter.
