This letter responds to a request from Mr. Hugh Dance of NRC Region II for additional information in regard to Enforcement Action 82-79.
Our response and payment of civil penalty was sent to you on August 12, 1982.
This supplement describes action which has been taken to increase the effectiveness of the management of the security program, particularly with regard to delineation of responsibilities of security guards to ensure continuing compliance with NRC requirements in this area.
The effectiveness of the security program received increased emphasis with the approval of an additional Supervisor Nuclear Security (Support) position on April 20, 1982. The position was filled on June 28, 1982. This position is a part of the site security organization and reports directly to the Nuclear Security Superintendent.
The primary responsibility assigned to this position is to increase the effectiveness of the management of the security program, on a continuing basis, by reviewing security procedures to insure that they are sufficiently detailed and explicit in the delineation of responsibilites of security guards.
We have determined that this letter contains no Safeguards Infonnation and, therefore, may be placed in the public document room.
