This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition, initially reported to the Commission on November 9, 1982, as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
As stated in our previous report, QA-2152, dated December 8, 1982, efforts were underway to requalify pipe bends performed in the field of small bore piping by January 31, 1983. This requalification require-ment mandated changes to H. J. Kaiser Company (HJK) Procedure MCP-7,
" Piping Installation." However, several other parameters have been incor-porated into the procedure, resulting in a lengthy review process. This revision is expected to be completed no later than February ll, 1983.
The requalification effort will be conducted immediately after the issu-ance of this revision, however, some material is not available. A follow-up report detailing the requalification results for the available pipe will be submitted by February 28, 1983.
With regards to the date of this report, per the February 1,1983 telephone conversation between Mr. P. F. Warnick of the NRC and Mr. H. R.
