Gentlemen:

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.64, Limitations on the Use of Highly Enriched Uranium, the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory submits herewith the information required by subsection (c)(2)(ii) of that paragraph.

We have been notified by the U.S. Department of Energy that Federal funding for conversion to low enriched uranium will not be available during Fiscal Year 1994. A copy of Dr. Larry L. Barker's letter dated March 8,1994 is attached.

It is our understanding that this letter fulfills the requirements of 10 CFR 50.64 until March 27,1995. We shall inform you if further information regarding the availability of funding should become available in the meantime.
