Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

a OFFICE OF INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT BULLETIN 80 -

RII:JPO 50-259, -260, -296 - BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT N

This letter is to inform you that all 20 jet pump beam holddown bolt assemblies on Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant unit 2 have been replaced with improved assemblies. General Electric Company report NEDE-24362-1 shows that the service life of the improved assemblies will exceed the remaining service life of Browns Ferry unit 2.

Because of this we do not consider IE Bulletin 80-07 as applicable to unit 2 any longer.

Therefore, we will discontinue performing the inspection required by that bulletin. If you have any questions, please call Jim Domer at FTS 858-2725.

To the best of my knowledge, I declare that statements contained herein are complete and true.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY DSW D. S. Kammer Nuclear Engineer cc: Office of Inspection and Enforcement Division of Reactor Operations Inspection U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 0
