'Iennessee Valley N'thority (WA) subnitted, by letter, to you on July 11, 1979, a request to establish ocncurrent cycles for ASC Section XI inservice inspections and tests at Browns Perry Nuclear Plant. Wat request proposed to establish a ocumencement date of January 1,1980, for the second 40-aonth inspection cycle for all three units. D e concurrent cycle-start date of January 1,1980, was proposed because it involved approximately equal and opposite shifts in time for the start dates of units 1 and 3 and a negligible l
shift in time for unit 2.
We original start dates for the second 40-month cycle were based on ending dates for the first 40-month cycle. Fading dates for the first 40snonth cycle were based on criteria fran the 1974 Mition of Section XI (1WA-2400). Ibwever, units 1 and 2 inspection requirenents for the first 40-mmth cycle were based on the 1971 Mition of Section XI. First cycle ea3ing dates for units 1 and 2 should be based on the 1971 M ition of Section XI (IS-241).
