Denton, Dicector October 9,1980 Paragraph 1 of 3R 4.4 0 2.4 requires that incpecticos be mads before entering MODE 4 wherever the unit has been in cold shutdown for 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> or nore and the inopoetion has not tesa done in the previous six months.
Parar,raph 2 has a discussion of the "six-month" inspecticos. TVA's inter-pretation of the first parsgesph is that a shutdcwn is not required after six months but that the inspections are done when the plant has been in cold shutdown for other reascns for 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />, but not more often than once per six nonths. As such, the "six-month" inspections may have an interval between inspections greater than six centhe. After three :uccescrul inspectiens, the inspcetice interval would be increased to 35 menths, but the suso interpretation logic would hold true.
TVA requests that the !!RC provide written concurrence of TVA's inter-pretation that a plant shutdown is not required at tha cnd of the inspection interval in SR 4.4 3 2.4 but that the inspection is to be conducted durin6 a shutdown caused by some other reason.
