Letter dated December 5, 1980, from Mr. A. V. Morisi to Mr. T. A. Ippolito (BEco.Ltr.#2.80.311)
Dear Sir:
The following information is provided in accordance with Boston Edison's commitment, contained in the reference letter, concerning the submittal of findings of an an-nual survey of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station's main breakwater.
An engineering appraisal of photographic data produced by the 1982 survey as compared to the baseline established by the 1981 survey indicates the following:
a) There is no discontinuity along the length or height of the Main Breakwater (horizontal or vertical planes).
b) There is no settling (negative displacement) of the Main Breakwater (vertical plane).
c) There is no shift in the general configuration of the j
Main Breakwater (horizontal plane).
O[
d) There is displacement of isolated rocks in the vertical plane, which is evidenced by the vertical projection of rocks from the otherwise unifonn elevation.
We believe this survey shows that there has been no major damage to the main breakwater, nor has there been major movement of rocks within it when compared to the 1981 Baseline Survey.
Therefore, we believe that this evaluation demonstrates that the main breakwater structure, as it now exists, adequately meets its design functions as defined by the PNPS Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
