Robert A. Jablon, Esquire Spiegel & McDiarmid 2600 Virginia Avenue, N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20037 Re: Florida Power & Light company NHC Docket No. 50-389A

Dear Mr. Jablon:

Enclosed are Applicant's Interrogatories to Intervenor Florida Cities and Requests for Production. Most of the interrogatories and request items are the same as, or vary only slightly from, discovery requests directed to the Cities by Florida Power & Light Company in Docket No. P-636A.

To facilitate reference to the Licensing Board's orders and stipulations of the parties in Docket No. P-636A, all of such interrogatories and request items hear the same number as in FPL's request in Docket No. P-636A. Consequently, there are gaps in numbering, where items which appear in the previous request have been omitted from this request, and new requests may bear numbers such as "lA."

The enclosed request specifies a " designated period" beginning January 1, 1950. As I stated at the prehearing conference in September, FPL will contend that, except where the Licensing Board approves specific exceptions, the period designated for discovery should be much shorter.

The 1950 date appears in FPL's request because of your announced intention to seek substantial discovery extending back to that time.

I understand that we will consider the applicability of the Memorandum of Understanding entered in Docket No.
