The following information is provided in response to references a and b.
Although Bechtel still does not agree with the item of noncompliance identified in the NRC letter of August 17, 1978 and IE Inspection Report Number 50-329/78-07 and 50-330/78-07 the following activity is in process.
WITH RESPECT TO ITEM 1 As a result of a Bechtel QA audit, (conducted prior to the NRC inspection inA July), Zack has worked to improve their QA manuals to.be more definitive.
Zack document control amendment now in review by Bechtel requires in part that drawings used by Zack personnel for construction will be stamped "Zack Controlled".
i In the course of coordination of this amendment Zack has in addition, agreed that

drawings " stamped controlled" issued by Bechtel Subcontracts to Zack will in addition be stamped "Zack Controlled" prior to distribution to Zack personnel.
e' As a result of the above actions all drawings used by Zack personnel in con-i struction will be identified as "Zack Controlled".
Personnel training will be conducted and stamping should be fully implemented by Zack no later than October 27, i
1978.
Zack Management advises that administrative adjustments are under consideration that could substantially reduce the time lag between Bechtel release of drawing revisions and Zack implementation.
Installation of HVAC systems is continuing with Zack perfonning in a controlled program to their contract requirements.

Bird Bechtel Power Corporation LAD: 492 Page 2 WITH RESPECT TO ITEM 2 Bechtel will purge the controlled drawing stick files in work areas to remove all drawings which have been marked void. These drawings will be allowed to remain in the construction areas, but as previously stated will be used only for administrative purposes such as status records.
This action will be complete by flovember 15, 1978.
