Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

On August 17, 1978, we reported to Mr. Tom Westerman, Region IV, the failure of a weld in a drain line in "A" LPSI loop as a potential significant defi-ciency. The section of pipe containing the failed weld has been removed and replaced. However, our Architect-Engineer has not completed a metallurgical examina tion.

We expect to be able to submit a final report detailing the results of the metallurgical examination and an analysis of the se fety impli-cations by November 10, 1978.

Sincerely, Daniel H. Williams
