Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Alabama Power Company has completed all items relative to compliance with IE Bulletin 79-13 for Joseph M.
Farley Nuclear Plant-Unit 2 as requested in the NRC to Mr. R. P. Mcdonald letter of September 13, 1982.
The actions taken are as follows:
1.
The feedwater pipe to nozzle welds and adjacent base material areas of all three steam generators were radiographed in accordance with IE Bulletin 79-13 Revision 2 during the Unit 2
first refueling outage.
A film sensitivi ty of 2T was achieved for the radiographs which were reviewed by qualified personnel and determined to be acceptable.
Neither the welds nor the adjacent areas contained any indication of cracking as described in IE Bulletin 79-13.
The film and complete examination reports are available for review at Farley Nuclear Plant.
2.
The original radiographs of the remaining portions of the feedwater system will be retained as the official radiographs to satisfy the bulletin.
Based upon the satisfactory completion of the items requested in the NRC letter of September 13, 1982, Alabama Power Company considers all requirements of IE Bulletin 79-13 Revision 2 to be complete.
