Docket No. STN 50-483 OL Administrative Judges Gleason, Bright and Kline:

The schedule to which the parties stipulated at the pre-hearing conference of September 8, 1982, called for, among other things, the filing with the Board of Mr. Reed's final contentions by October 1, 1982, and Applicant re-submission of its discovery requests to Mr. Reed on undisputed conten-tions by October 6.

The short period of time between the filing of contentions and the filing of a substitute for Applicant's original dis-covery package was based upon our anticipation that we could merely extract interrogatories from the previous set. It is now clear, from reviewing Mr. Reed's final contentions, that the original interrogatories are no longer appropriate and that completely different interrogatories are required.

l SHAw, PITTMAN, PoTTs & TROWBRIDGE A PARTNERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL CORPORATIONS James P. Gleason, Esquire Mr. Glenn O. Bright Dr. Jerry R. Kline October 6, 1982 Page Two In order to accommodate this change in circumstances, Mr. Reed, the NRC Staff and Applicant have agreed to a two-week extension of the schedule for discovery on undisputed contentions. The change is reflected on the attached listing of the stipulated schedule.

Since these events were not included in the Board's Memorandum and Prehearing Conference Order of September 10, 1982, no action by the Board is necessary.

Respectfully submitted, Thomas A. Baxter Counsel for Applicant TAB:jah Attachment cc: Service List attached r
