Dear Mr. Denton:

This letter is to inform the NRC of management organization changes at Kansas Gas and Electric Company.

KG&E announced that, effective,ctober 25, 1982, Mr. Kent Brown is appointed Senior Vice President.

Mr. Brown is to be responsible for all Company technical activities and functions. As Vice President -

Nuclear, I will report to Mr. Brown. Additionally, KG&E's Vice Presi-dent - Engineering and the Director of Operations will also report to Mr. Brown. A copy of the announcement of Mr. Brown's appointment is attached.

Mr. Wilson Cadman, President and Chief Executive Officer of KGGE, was also appointed Chairman of the Board effective October 1,1982.

A copy of the announcement of this change is also attached for your information.

Rives Vice President-System Services KG&E, The Electric Company 316 261-6455 August 24, 1982 Wilson K. Cadman, president and chief executive officer of Kansas Gas and Electric Company, has been appointed chairman of the board effective October 1.

He will succeed Ralph P. Fiebach who will be 65 years old in September.

Fiebach, chairman of the board of KG&E since 1975, also served as chief executive officer until 1981.

He relinquished the post of chief executive at that time to provide an orderly transition of executive responsibility at the electric company.

He will remain a member of KG&E's board and will serve in an advisory capacity until December 31,1982.

Cadman is a lifelong Wichita resident who joined KG&E in 1951.

He became president in 1979.

A graduate of Wichita State University, he'and his wife Roslyn have two children.

Fiebach is a native of Coffeyville and was the first native Kansan to be president and chairman of KG&E.

He is a graduate of Michigan State University and he and his wife Roberta have four children.

i Kansas Gas and Electric Company's Board of Directors has appointed Mr Kent Brown as Senior Vice Presiden't to be responsible for all coinpany technical activities and functions.

Mr Brown will report to me.

Reporting to him will be Mr Glenn Koester, Vice President-Nuclear; Mr Bernard Ruddick, Vice President-Engineering; and Mr William Woolery, Director of Operations.

Kent is currently a vice president of the Management Analysis Company (MAC) of San Diego, California.

As a project leader for MAC he is well known to many KG&E'ers as he has had direct contact with numerous departments over a period of three years of consultation.

His previous employers include Holmes & Narver Inc as project manager; General Atomic Company in senior project management positions, and l

Stone & Webster Engineering.

A native Californian, Kent has a mechanical engineering ~ degree from Cali M nia State at Long Beach, is a registered professional nuclear engineer in the state of California, and has advanced mechanical engineering courses from California State and Northeast University.

Mr Brown will bring not only additional nuclear engineering strength to the company, but advanced experience in engineering management systems and project control.

We are fortunate to obtain this well trained and experienced engineering executive to help us strengthen cur ever-expanding technical activities.

He is scheduled to report to the company the week of October 25.
