GNRO-94/00026 Gentlemen:

1 i

The NRC SALP process provides Grand Gulf with a convenient opportunity to perform a l

retrospective review of overall site performance.

While.;it is Grand Gulf policy to l

continually conduct self-assessments focused along departmental and functional lines,

.i we have traditionally reserved the period at the end of a 'SALP cycle to perform an l

integrated review.

i As expected, we have noted a distinct reduction in the level of_ NRC inspection at our facility during this SALP period. Although reduced inspection scrutiny is one of the benefits of strong performance, it also results in a corresponding reduction in the amount of docketed performance information for the SALP period. Whereas in the past, we have -

chosen not to docket our internal SALP period review results, for the. current SALP -

period we believe it appropriate to provide the NRC with a broader information base than may be avaliable through inspection Reports and other docketed correspondence.

We hope you will find the enclosed review useful and informative.

Yours truly j
