Dear Mr. Haynes:

Your April 29, 1982 letter requested that we submit a response to the Emergency Plan deficiencies identified in Appendix C by July 27, 1982.

For the reasons discussed below, Philadelphia Electric Company hereby requests an extension of 60 days from the July 27, 1982 submittal date to a September 25, 1982 submittal date.

At the present time, Philadelphia Electric Company is performing a major review of the plan to ensure consistency among documents relating to emergency planning.

Because of the quantity of material associated with this extensive review, additional time is needed to update the Peach Bottom Emergency Plan.

In preparation for the June 16, 1982 observed exercise, both the number and scope of the emergency plan implementing procedures have been revised since the previous emergency plan revision of 1981.

To properly update the emergency plan, the plan needs to be correlated to these procedures.

Also licensee identified critique items from the June 16, 1982, observed exercise may also be addressed in the plan.
