Dear Mr. Chairman:
Enclosed herewith is a copy of a communication I received from Arden T.
- Westover, Sr.,
Chairman, Monroe County Board of Commissioners, Monroe, Michigan, regarding the disposition of the Detroit Edison Fermi II Nuclear Power Plant.
As you will note, Mr. Westover forwarded a petition bearing several hundred names from the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate IIeart of Mary located in Monroe, Michigan, in my 16th Congressional District,.
The Monroe County Board of Commissioners, as well as the petiti'oners, are requesting that Fermi II be converted from a r.uclear power facility to a non-nuclear facility.
I would therefore appreciate that the views of the Monroe County Board of Commissioners and those of the petitioners be appropriately considered during any licensing proceedings of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission over the disposition of the Fermi II reactor.
j With every good wish, l
