I would like to thank you again for allowing me
--'~-the opportunity of addressing your Board at the Yorktown NY meeting at ~9:55 p.m., when the meeting was technically over at 9: 00 p.m. .
As you can see, I had not intended to speak, but it seemed increasingly important as the evening wore on to point out the laxness with which the Radiological Emergency Evacuation Plan was {
prepared. I appreciate your granting me that ;
opportunity.
I would also like to praise the patience and fortitude with which your panel has faced the exhausting task of hearing this aggrieved populace. You are witnessing an unusual political phenomenon-- a swelling public point of view that cuts across class and party lines, created by and focussing on a clear and present danger. -
We hope you can cut through the inevitable redundancy and immateriality that so often characterizes the voice of the people. We are sincerely frightened, and that is what you are hearing.

The utility that was supposed only to provide us with our electric power and gas, has somehow taken our lives in its hands. Your panel, for the moment, is our last best hope against the facelessness of bureaucracy-- public and private.
Please do not fail us.
