Confiouration Manacement Program Six Month Status Report In our letter dated November 13, 1989, and at a meeting with the NRC on December 14, 1989,-NSP agreed to provide semi-annual status reports to'the NkC on the progress of the Configuration Management Programs at Monticello and' Prairie Island. This letter, and attachments,'provides our status through December 31, 1993.

The projected schedule is for 8 DBDs written and 1 verified.

As of January 1, 1Q94, approximately 49,000 documents have been entered.

Continued to review Bechtel turnover documentation focusing on calculations, specifications and correspondence.

Perform DBD preparation All of the remaining DBD development projects and Verification are in progress. Draft DBDs exist and are at activities consistent with various stages of review for eight of the completion of ten remaining DBDs. All field work relating to the additional DBD's by the Verification inspections is complete for two end of 1994.

Actions to close out 532 FOI's are complete. Note that FOI's are not considered closed out until either all recommendations are actually performed or resolved, or the actions have been prepared and have entered a j

i controlled administrative process (for example, procedure mark-ups have been prepared and entered into the procedure revision process).

There were no high-priority FOI's in the assessnerat process on December 31, 1993.

During the second half of 1993 there was one Licensee Event Report (L1 14, electrical separation) relating to FOI work. During the first half of 1993 there was one FOI-related LER (L1-93-07, valve code class).

The PI Design Standards section is continuing to support a project to

improve site electrical drawings and development of the site Engineering

Hanual. The first volume of this manual was issued in 1992, and development has continued during 1993 with new and revised sections.

An initiative is in progress to review early Prairie Island licensing correspondence for identification of commitments. Commitments are documented l

and researched to verify appropriate disposition. Prairie Island is presently tracking 1196 commitments to the NRC.

3.

Modifications and non-modification Safety Evaluations are reviewed for j

consistency with the documented design basis. During 1993 there were a total 1

of 58 modifications and 32 safety evaluations reviewed.

Prairie Island Configuration Management engineers are continuing to revise previous DBD*a to incorporate new modifications, regulatory matters, and closure of Open Items. Four revisions were completed during 1993, and five revisions are currently in progress.
