As a result of, and in preparation for, addressing Generic Letter 92-08, Braidwood Station has been in the process of evaluating the station's Safe Shutdown Analysis as it applies to cabling protected by TSI Thermo-Lag 330-1 material. It is anticipated that this evaluation, in conjunction with detailed in-plant walkdowns, will result in an overall reduction in the quantity of fire barrier materials needed in order to be in compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix R.
During the evaluation process, several discrepancies have been identified with the Safe Shutdown Analysis and the as-built installation of the Thermo-Lag fire barriers. The following is a summary of the discrepancies identified listed by fire zone.
i FIRE' ZONE DISCREPANCY Zone 3.2A-1 Cable risers not wrapped with a fire barrier.
Zone 11.3-0 Conduit not wrapped with a fire barrier.

- In each case, the appropriate compensatory action (one hour fire watches)
)
- had been implemented for each discrepancy. These discrepancies pose a minimal challenge to the station's ability to achieve and maintain the plant in a safe shutdown condition. Each discrepancy has been documented and is being tracked to resolution.
