ATT AC HMEN T L ASALLE COUNTY STATION UNIT 1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST NPF -11/82 -13 Su'bj ec t :
Revise Table 3.3.7.10-1, Radioactive Liquid Ef fluent Monitoring Instrumentation, to include the Unit 2 Service Water System Ef fluent Line Radiation Monitor.
Background
LaSalle County Station utilizes a liquid radioactive treatment system which is essentially common for both units.
The radwaste treatment system contains 3 evaporator / concentrators which are designated as the Unit 1 Floor Drain Concentrator, the Common Chemical Waste Concentrator, and the Unit 2 Floor Drain Concentrator.
The Unit 1 Floor Drain Concentrator and the Common Chemical Waste Concentrator have certain components cooled by the Unit 1 Service Water System.
The ef fluent of the Unit 1 Service Water System is monitored by the Service Water System Ef fluent Line Radiation Monitor (lD18-K608), which is listed in Table 3.3.7.10-1.
The Unit 2 Floor Drain Concentrator has certain components cooled by the Unit 2 Service Water System.
Th e e f fluen t o f th e Uni t 2 Service Water System is monitored by the Service Water System Ef fluent Line Radiation Monitor (2018-K608), which is not listed in Table 3.3.7.10-1.
Discussion LaSalle County Station desires to util*ze the Unit 2 Floor Drain Concentrator to provide added flexibility la processing liquid rad-waste.
Prelim?1ary discussions with the NRC Resident Inspector (W.
Guldemand) and NRR (A. Bournia, et. al. ) have ir micated the NRC staf f's interpretation that the Unit 2 Service Water System Ef fluent Line Radiation Monitor must be listed in the Unit 1 Technical Specifications prior to using the Unit 2 Floor Drain Concentrator.
Conclusion Commonwealth Edison Company finds no unreviewed safety questions in this Technical Specification Change.
This change merely allows the use of equipment already described in the FSAR.
