Dear Mr. Denton:

Enclosed are 40 controlled copies of revised pages of the document entitled " Environmental Qualification Report for Class lE Equipment for Shoreham Nuclear Power Station - Unit 1".

These pages comprise Revision 3 - August 1982.

Changes from Revision 2 are:

1)

An update of the Equipment Qualification Status Report in Appendix F; 2)

Deletion of the original Appendix G; 3)

Relabelling of the original Appendix 11 as Appendix G;

4)

Addition of new Appendix H in a separate binder, providing justification for interim operation pending completion of the environmental qualifi-cation program; and 5)

Editorial changes to accomodate the relabelling of Appendices.

These are indicated by a vertical line and the numeral "3"

in the margin.

The present submittal addresses about 40% of the equipment not now designated as fully qualified.

A supplement projected for submittal by September 10, 1982 will address the balarice of this equipment.

staff requirement for them in their Safety Evaluation Report, and as would be required by the proposed new rule 10CFR50.49 published for comment January 20, 1982.

These justifications for interim operation provide assurance that the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station can be safely operated pending completion of the environmental qualification program.
