Subject:
Seismic and LOCA Loadings on Fuel The Fermi 2 Safety Evaluation Report (SER) prepared by the NRC indicates that there is a confirmatory open item concerning the completion of a GE evaluation of potential Fuel Assembly lift-off due to dynamic loadings from SSE and LOCA (Page 4-6 of the SER).
This evaluation has been completed and has been sub-mitted to the NRC as Amendment 3 to NEDE-21175-P, "BWR Fuel Assembly Evaluation of Combined SSE and LOCA Loadings (Amendment No. 3)", in GE to NRC letter MFN-099-82 from J. F. Quick to Mr. Hal Bernard, Acting Chief, Standardization and Special Projects Branch, dated July 27, 1982.
The evaluation is applicable to Fermi 2 and shows the fuel response is within accep-table limits.
Appropriate FSAR changes will be made to reference the topical repart in a forthcoming amendment.
Detroit Edison believes that this information provides adequate resolution for the SER confirmatory item.
