During a Surveillance Test of the HPCI auxiliary oil pum ak of about 3 to 5 GPM was discovered on the oil supply line to the abine mar.unl/
overspeed trip mechanism.
Conditions Prior to Occurrence:
Unit 3 operating at loof power.
Apparent Cause of Occurrence:
It is believed that the oil leak is due to a leaking val're or fitting in the oil supply line to the trip mechanism.
i Analysis of Occurrence:
The Surveillance Test did not require HPCI turbine operaticr., therefore.here ws:
no possibility of demar.e to the HPCI bearings.
If the HPCI turbine hrul b r' t' n r, tarted with oil leaking from the Une, oil vould still have been supplie.i
.u the bearings for about thirty minutes at reduced pressure.
At that point n turbine bearing low pressure alar.n vould have been received.
