This is to provide a revision to the Byron /Braidwood Fire Protection Report.
This revision is a complete update of the Byron /Braidwood Stations " Fire Protection Report in Response to Appendix A of BTP APCSB 9.5-1" transmitted to the NRC by reference (a).
The original report contained a detailed evaluation of the fire hazards to all areas of the plant, a description of fire protection features and a description of the fire protection program for the stations,

- l The current revision to the report is a general update of the initial report, taking into account all relevant design changes which have been incorporated subsequent to submittal of the original report.
In addition, new material has been added to the report in response to new NRC concerns.
In particular, the safe shutdown analysis submitted in reference (b) has been incorporated into the revised Fire Protection Report.
Tne comparision to 10CFR50 Appendix R transmitted with reference (c) has been updated and incorporated.
Several other fire protection related items transmitted in references (d), (e), (f) and (g) have also been incorporated into the revised report.
Formal fire protection questions, however, are included in the appropriate " Response to NRC Questions" volume of the FSAR.
Please direct questions regarding this report to this office.
One (1) signed orignal and thirty-nine (39) copies of this letter are provided for your review.
Forty (40) copies of the report are enclosed.
