SUBJECT:
ROUTINE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INSPECTION AT THE CALLAWAY PLANT
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. T. Reidinger'and
others of this office on November 29 through December 1, 1993. The inspection
included a review of authorized ' activities at your Callaway facility.
At the
conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those members
of your staff identified in the enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection'are identified in the report. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures
and evaluation of personnel proficiency in p'erforming' emergency response
~
duties. The results of this inspection are documented _in the enclosed: report.
Three control room operating crews were evaluated in a dynamic walkthrough
(scenario) using the control room simulator. - The purpose was to evaluate
their capability to properly implement the emergency plan.
The crews' overall
performance was excellent.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified _ during the course of .this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy.of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
