SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM RELIEF REQUESTS FOR PUMPS AND VALVES - POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT (TAC NOS. M84191, M84192, M84424, M84425, M83086, M83087, M85204, M85205, M85206, and M85207)
The enclosed Safety Evaluation (SE) provides the results of the staff's review of your Inservice Testing (IST) program submittals dated March 24, July 29, July 30, and November 16, 1992, and March 2, April 2, and April 27, 1993.
Your submittals generally concerned issues identified in the NRC Safety Evaluation dated April 17, 1992, and relief requests for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, inservice testing (IST) program for pumps and valves.
The staff has concluded in the attached Safety Evaluation Report that relief is not required for relief requests PRR-20, VRR-35, and VRR-37, provided the i
conditions in the SE are met.
Further, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(ii) relief request PRR-21 is approved and relief request VRR-21 is approved on an interim basis for one-year from the date of this letter.
Relief requests PRR-22 and VRR-36 are approved in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(1).
Finally, relief requests VRR-23 and VRR-24 are granted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(4)(iv).
