UNC WELL SAMPLE RESULTS

Dear Mr. Parrott:

Enclosed are the results of the radiological analyses, performed on water samples (including 3 replicates), collected from wells in the vicinity of the UNC Scrap Recovery Facility, Wood River Junction, Rhode Island, by the U.S. Geological Survey during September 1993. Table 1 contains gross alpha and gross beta screening levels and concentrations of Sr-90 and Tc-99 in those five samples for which the gross beta levels exceeded 50 pCi/1. There were no samples which contained in excess of 15 pCi/l of gross alpha continued in excess of 15 pCi/l of gross alpha activity; therefore, no isotopic analyses for alpha emitting radionuclides were performed. Table 2 presents results of associated quality control analyses.- I am also enclosing copies of the USGS field data forms. Results of nitrate analyses have not yet been received from USGS; these will be forwarded to you when they are available.
