Dear Sir:

The Authority provided the status and schedule for fifteen NUREG-0737 items in Reference 1. This information was supplied in response to Generic Letter 82-05 (Reference 2). For the reasons detailed below, it is necessary to amend some portions of this schedule.

The Authority is in the process of changing general maintenance contractors. The current contractor is in the process of installing those modifications for which he has cognizance. Rather than to re-quest that the current general maintenance contractor start the final phases of these modifications and transfer these partially completed work phases to the new general maintenance contractor, we have decided to postpone the start of these phases until the new general maintenance contractor fully assumes his duties. The Authority considers this preferrable to having to coordinate partially completed installation phases between two contractors. It further reduces the possibility for oversights attributable to the transfer. Although the Authority has tried to minimize the impact of this change, recent contractual prob-lems have forced the postponement of the transfer by three months. A delay of this magnitude can not be absorbed into existing schedules.
