Gentlemen:

This is Central Power and Light Company's

(" CPL") status report on discovery proceedings for the month of January, 1979 in the above matter.

CPL received from the Public Utilities Board of the City of Brownsville, Texas (" PUB") Initial Interrogatories and a Request for Production of Documents dated January 3, 1979. Corrected versions were served upon CPL on January 5, and again on January 8, 1979.

CPL is now preparing a response to these interrogatories.

On January 17, CPL moved for an extension of time within which to respond to interrogatories and

' requests. PUB has no objection to the granting of this extension.

CPL is awaiting an order by the Board in regard to this motion. ,

On January 18, CPL made application to the

. Board for the issuance of subpoenas for depositions to the following persons:

(1) Robert L. Wright, Union Carbide Corporation.

(2) Lee C. Peeler, Monsanto Company.

(3) Robert H. Steder, PPG Industries, Inc.

(4) Edward V. Sherry, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.

(5) A.D. Cyphers, E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co.

In addition, CPL applied for issuance of subpoenas for production of documents to the Keeper of Records of these same companies.
