Between June 16 and July 12, our siren manufacturer installed nadified decoders at each of the siren locations. To give us confidence that the modifications were effectiva, we decided to disconnect the siren; energize its controls, including receiver and decoder; and monitor their activity over a two-week period.
During that two-week period, we found no indications that the sirens would activate

RICHARD C DEYOUNG August 10, 1982 Following the installation of the modified decoders, we performed integrated tests on the sirens. The tests included activating a' siren through the siren.
encoder and communication equipment at each of the respective counties. All the sirens successfully ' activated. These tests were done jointly with County personnel operating the activation equipment at their E0C's. and District personnel at the siren location.
On July 26, 1982, we returned to service the siren alerting systems for Amador and Sacramento Counties. On July 28, 1982, San Joaquin County's siren system was returned to service.
Since then,.we have experienced a. false operation on one siren in Sacramento County.
Repairs are being made to that unit, and we plan on placing it back into service within the next two weeks.
On August 9,1982, full power, sustained sound output tests were done on sirens which either did not receive them during our earlier testing or had not operated

properly during that earlier testing. These tests also~ proved successful.
In summary, the deficiencies found after system activation on April 30, 1982,
,have been corrected and the Prompt Notification System for Rancho Seco has been returned to service.
Furthermore, additional testing has been done which further verifies the operability of the system.
