Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commissioners,

By now you have heard from many experts, officials, and citizens across the U.S. about why Holtec International is the wrong company to take on the job of decommissioning of Indian Point Nuclear Generating facility.

Holtec has never decommissioned a nuclear facility, and its nuclear fleet was obtained less than a year ago.

Holtec has a highly questionable history, and its plans for decommissioning Indian Point are inadequate.

Decommissioning is always complex, but even more so at Indian Point nuclear facility, a site with radioactive groundwater contamination, as well as an expanded natural gas pipeline located approximately one hundred feet from the switch yard.

We have seen that Holtec's spent fuel management system at San Onofre nuclear power plant has serious design flaws, and Holtec has a proven history of risk-taking with spent nuclear fuel canisters.

A qualified company must be chosen to take on this vital and complex task of decommissioning, site cleanup, and management of spent radioactive fuel. Holtec does not have a proven or positive proven track record for any of the above.

Holtec must not be allowed to take on the decommissioning at Indian Point.
