Not only is Holtec's record questionable but the entire notion that the site can be made safe is also uncertain.
For sure the radioactive wastes have a very long lifetime -- on the order of 50,000 years. There is no one save a major government that will have the resources to safeguard the waste (if it can be cleaned up) for such a long time.
EVERY waste site has a terrible record starting with Hanford, Washington. Casks rust, leak, corrode and spill their contents.
There is no verified save place on the planet. Waiting for some miraculous true fix is the hope. Relinquishing control and throwing money at an inexperienced, unregulated and so far irresponsible private contractor is asking for failure that only the government will be able to afford to clean up.
Giving a clean up and store task to other than a government entity with a very large financial backing is beyond troublesome. It won't work.

This is a job for the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) to certify and inspect. A private contractor has no place in such an undertaking.
Until there is a scientifically sound, certified way to dispose of the waste, Entergy should be required to perform best practices to at least keep the problem from getting larger.
